First Day

Today was fantastic!

There is so much to do and so much to learn.

Firstly, I get a really great vibe from the team environment. The AdNews team is relatively small and everyone seems to work hard. They are almost always focused on their work, yet still seem to bond on a personal level.

I'm interested to see more of their roles and how it impacts the team as I continue my internship alongside the team.

Today was primarily research and introduction to AdNews, and the duties I will be expected to carry out there. I explored the AdNews events held every year, including the AdNews awards and lessons in leadership. I also researched the companies top competitors such as Mumbrella.

Looking at previous work from both AdNews and Mumbrella gave me a rough idea of the kind of work these publications do. I realised there is a lot about the industry to consider, and a lot to learn. This is an exciting prospect for me.

I learned my role would consist of proposing potential stories through research of the happenings of the industry, transcribing interviews, socialising articles and events and writing about the latest campaigns/creative agencies/career moves in the industry.

I worked with different software I have never seen before, such a s Tweet Deck where you can both publish and schedule tweets (really cool!).

From today alone I can tell this role will be somewhat demanding and a lot of work - and I am super excited to dive in!

The part that excited me the most is learning about the agencies, the potential to interview leading industry people and bettering my writing skills.

Bring it on. Let the adventure begin!
